Public Prosecution: Severe penalties for those who violate personal data protection, with fines reaching 3 million riyals

The Public Prosecution explained that the Personal Data Protection System aims to establish unified regulatory rules for the use of electronic transactions and signatures, and to facilitate their application in the public and private sectors through electronic records. The Public Prosecution said: Anyone who discloses or publishes sensitive data in violation of the provisions of the system, if this is with the intent to harm the data owner or with the intent to achieve personal benefit, shall be punished according to the Personal Data Protection System with imprisonment for a period of up to two years and a fine of up to 3 million riyals, or with one of these two penalties.
